Hey there, fellow Followers!

For the past month, I’ve been searching for the perfect monitor for my Mac setup. My top contenders were the LG C2 48, LG 49WQ95C-W, and the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ. Let me share my journey and thoughts on each of these bad boys.

So, I started with the LG 49WQ95C-W. It’s an excellent ultra-wide option, but the shape and form were too unfamiliar for someone from an LG 27 5K monitor. The USB-C adapter made it Mac-friendly, but it wasn’t enough to win me.

Next up, I tried the LG C2 48-inch. Wowza, this thing looked gorgeous on my desk! The colors and size were just perfect. But, as I delved deeper into YouTube reviews, I noticed some issues. The random brightness changes, difficulty waking up from sleep, 60Hz, and text clarity were all headache-inducing. I tried using an Anker USB-C to HDMI adapter and updated the firmware to support 120Hz, but something still felt off.

I was about to order a service controller to disable brightness dimming, but the whole process seemed like a hassle. Oh, and if you’re looking for a 120Hz HDMI solution for your M1 Mac, here’s the LINK.

After several weeks of research, I stumbled upon the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ. Fellow Mac users seemed smitten with it and had DisplayPort 1.4 support! So, I figured, “Why not? I’ve already tried two monitors (one monitor and a TV).” I went ahead and grabbed the Asus from B&H.

Let me tell you, friends, the matte finish, DisplayPort, and the 42-inch size made all the difference! The text is super clear, runs at 120Hz out of the box, has no more random brightness issues, and has four USB ports. I debated between the 48-inch and 42-inch models but ultimately chose the 42-inch, as most people said it was the perfect size.

I am head over heels in love with the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ! If you’re searching for a new monitor, I can confidently say this is a safe bet. A huge thanks to this community for helping me make the right choice.
